Malta Day 3 - Last day Valetta fotoschoot

Pss... Hey there, wake up. I know, it's early. It's 4:45 now, but I wanted to let you know that I'm leaving for my shoot location. We simply have to leave this early so we can see the sunrise and use it for the photos.

Photoshoot in Valletta

We have arrived in Valletta. A place you would never discover as a tourist. Even many locals don't even know this place exists. Only a few locals know about it, mostly fishermen, the photographer said. It was quite a walk and you had to be careful, because you could seriously hurt yourself or even have a fatal fall that doesn't end well, if you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah, I'll do anything for *the* perfect photo 😅. Am I crazy? But no, it only seems that way 😂. I am always careful and don't take unnecessary risks. So don't worry.

Wow, what a beautiful location this was! If I lived there in Valletta? I would go there every day to watch the sunrise.

Later, when we were finished, the photographer showed me his secret spot where he always went to unwind. And I completely understand him. It wasn't easy to get there, because you had to climb over rocks and stones. But it was beautiful. However, if you didn't have anything to sit on, it hurt quite a bit, because those rocks weren't exactly smooth and were all razor-sharp. Wow, my butt hurt so much afterwards. 😂

After this, we walked around Valletta a bit and ended up in a narrow street where the restaurant tables were set up right in the middle of the street. Quite cozy, actually. Because, well, we still needed to have breakfast and it was about 9 or 10 o'clock by then. I ordered a bagel there, but not exactly according to their way of preparing it, because I don't eat tuna. 😂 The lady who served us was very friendly and made the same bagel, but replaced the tuna with cheese and ham. There were also salty chips on the side. I said to him (the photographer): “Honestly? We don't eat that for breakfast in Belgium” 🤣. But more as a snack when we're feeling a bit peckish or while watching TV. Of course, that went with a freshly squeezed fruit juice and a cappuccino. Oh right, before I forget. There was also a huge corpse walking around there. 🤣 Everyone was so scared of it, thinking, come on, it won't do anything. That little animal is just hungry too. 🤣

After breakfast, he showed me another place. Also very nice. There was there

A small market with things people had made themselves. If you wanted a smoothie, you could mix it yourself by riding a bike. Yeah hahaha, quite a fun invention. The boy sitting on it thought it was great too. Just like there were cyclists behind him and he had to win the race. 😂

I also saw a man with a hawk there. I asked if I could pet it, and sure enough, I could. But the bird looked at me as if to say, “Make one wrong move and I’ve got you” 😂. He was very well trained, and his owner had only had him for seven months. Absolutely crazy.

We were absolutely exhausted, oh my... It was way too early for both of us. We hadn't had much sleep, because we didn't get home/to the hostel until around 1 am yesterday. And it was so hot... just unbearable.

Eventually, we went to the second location for the photoshoot. Here, I had to put on my outfit with the red pants. I could barely get those pants on because of the sweat 🤣. Everything was just sticking to me. But anyway, I managed it in the end.

The location was also beautiful: a quiet mini-park with a small fountain in the middle, benches, a building, and a view of the sea. And I wasn't the only one there having a photoshoot. I suspect it was a couple who had just gotten engaged and wanted to capture it this way. Really cute to see.

The photoshoot went pretty smoothly again. Only that sun, man... pff, so hot. I was glad I could take my pants off again and put my dress back on 🤣🥵.

After the shoot, he showed me one more spot with a beautiful view and close to the boat towards Sliema.

You could either take a bus boat there or one of those gondola-like boats. When we arrived, the bus boat was just leaving, but a small boat was approaching. And yes, I said: “No no, we’re not going to wait for the bus boat. We’re taking that little boat.” That only cost 3 euros per person. Really next to nothing. I would definitely recommend it if you like coziness.

Normally, the plan was for us to each go home. Me to my hostel and him home to catch up on some sleep. But unfortunately, that didn't work out 😂. We ended up with an ice cream and walked around the shopping area for a bit. Because it was so hot 🥵. Sitting in the air conditioning for a while wasn't just pleasant, but really necessary too 😂.

And yes, then it was almost time to leave for the last location for the sunset photoshoot. And we were still just as tired 😂. Completely exhausted by the heat.

I hurried to my hostel, grabbed my last outfit, and changed to go dancing. We ordered an Uber to Ghajn Tuffieha Bay . That was about a 20-minute drive from Sliema. A truly beautiful beach, wow! But also a whole lot of stairs. Going down isn't a problem for me, but going up? I'm always afraid of that with my legs.

Why? Oh right, I haven't told you that yet. I don't know exactly what's wrong with me, but I have a lot of trouble with stairs. Squatting at the gym, for example, doesn't work well either. With walking, it depends on the moment. My legs completely burn out and I lose my strength, making walking very difficult. But whatever.

The photoshoot itself went very smoothly again. People looked regularly, and I received compliments from passersby every now and then. The first part took place on the stairs, the second part on the beach, in the water, and on the rocks. The sunset there was simply incredibly beautiful! This is really going to become my go-to spot to end every day 😂.

When the sun had completely set, we had to rush to the Uber we had ordered to go to the dance class location. Man, I struggled with those stairs. I have enough trouble with stairs already, let alone when you have to run up as fast as possible because your Uber is already waiting. 😂

Upon arriving at the dance class location, it turned out to be on the first floor of a hotel. But again: wow, what a beautiful hotel! Admission cost 12 euros for a lesson. We had a salsa lesson, as that was on the schedule, and after that, it was free dancing.

It was really fun there. We danced different styles, and that is also where I discovered kizomba. The lady who danced it was so elegant. Everything flowed so smoothly. I actually have no words to describe what I felt when I saw it. I spoke to her about it, and she said she would be happy to dance it with me sometime. After all, she was a dance teacher in that style. Of course, I said yes immediately! And voilà... I’ve fallen in love with a new dance style 😍.

Around 11 pm, it was time to head back to my hostel and get about another 2 hours and 45 minutes of sleep. Because my plane was leaving very early in the morning to go back home. Just like that, almost no sleep again. From Thursday night until Sunday, I’ve only had nights of about 2 to 3 hours of sleep each time. I’m exhausted 😂.

When I went back to my hostel, I really felt like I was going home where my two little dogs were waiting for me. But unfortunately... they are just in Belgium 🤣
